Hello, families new to Muscota! As a guardian of a Muscota student, you are automatically a member of the Muscota Parents Association. No signup or password needed!
There are many traditions and events that are special to Muscota. You will hear more about all of them as the year goes on. Here is a list of Muscota events to help you get familiar.
Town Meeting
Town Meeting is much like an assembly. Every Wednesday morning half of the grades gather in the gym, and one classroom hosts the Town Meeting. That class gives a presentation of one of the units they have recently been studying. When your student’s class is hosting, you are invited to attend Town Meeting.
Celebrations of Learning
A few times a year you will be invited to come into your student’s classroom to witness and participate in a lesson for a particular subject, like math or EL. This is a great opportunity to see what instruction looks like and how the teachers engage with their students.
Mad Hatter’s Day
Around Halloween, students march in the Mad Hatter’s Parade, stepping outside the school building and marching around the block. All family members are invited to cheer on their students as they sing Mad Hatter’s songs and show off the Matter Hatter’s Parade hats. Then on Saturday the Mad Hatter’s Day party is held in the school. Games, food, a bouncy castle, the Haunted Hallway and more will entertain and scare you!
Family Breakfast
Right before winter break and right before summer break, you are invited to a potluck breakfast in your student’s classroom.
Candlelight Night
This is a winter evening musical performance of all the students, singing songs they have learned in music class. All family members are welcome to sit in the audience and enjoy the sweet sounds of our students in song.
Talent Show
In the spring students from all grades can audition for the evening Talent Show performance. Singing, dancing, gymnastics, instrumental performance, magic, and comedy are all on display as students get to shine in the spotlight.
