2023-24 Executive Board
President | Sarajean Santoro
President: Sarajean Santoro is mom to two Muscota kiddos, 5th grader Quincey, and 1st grader Rooney. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, she moved to New York in 2000, and has lived in Washington Heights since day one. She served as the Corresponding Secretary for the PA board from 2019-2021. Her background is in Musical Theatre, and hobbies include cooking, fermentation, foraging, and MacGyvering her way through life’s challenges. She would like to believe she still, somewhat resembles the fresh faced 30-something in this photo. No photo has been taken of her without children since 2013.

Originaria del Área de la Bahía de San Francisco, se mudó a Nueva York en el año 2000 y ha vivido en Washington Heights desde el primer día. Se desempeñó como Secretaria Correspondiente de la junta de la Asociación de Padres de 2019 a 2021. Tiene experiencia en teatro musical y sus pasatiempos incluyen cocinar, fermentar, buscar comida y hacer MacGyvering para superar los desafíos de la vida. Vice President | Erika Fajardo
Vice President: Erika Fajardo is mom to Connor, an enthusiastic 2nd grader. She grew up in Washington Heights and loves her community. She joined the Muscota family in 2021 and soon served as a kindergarten class parent. This is her second year as Vice President. Erika’s professional background is in hospitality. She is passionate about event planning and creating memorable experiences. Her hobbies include crafting everything from screen printing t-shirts to balloon decor, as well as driving herself a little crazy organizing her son’s birthday celebrations. Erika is excited about the school year ahead. She is looking forward to contributing to many fun events for our Muscota Community.

Se unió a la familia Muscota en 2021 y pronto se desempeñó como madre de familia en una clase de jardín de infantes. Este es su segundo año como vicepresidenta. La experiencia profesional de Erika es en hotelería. Le apasiona la planificación de eventos y la creación de experiencias memorables. Sus pasatiempos incluyen confeccionar de todo, desde camisetas serigrafiadas hasta decoración con globos, además de volverse un poco loca organizando las celebraciones del cumpleaños de su hijo. Treasurer | Pam Greengarten
Treasurer: Pam is mom to Muscota 4th grader Levi and Kindergartener Jude. She has lived in Inwood since 2006 with her wife Maria, their 2 Muscota boys, baby Harlan and their dog Ned. Pam was co-class parent for 3rd grade and is again co-class parent for 4th grade. She is now serving on the Executive Board for the first time as Treasurer. Her background is in Science and her past career was with the NYC Department of Environmental Protection as a Water Ecologist. When she is not busy with her kiddos, she can be found most days in Isham Park or cooking up a feast in her tiny but mighty kitchen.
//Tesorero: Pam es madre de Levi, estudiante de cuarto grado de Muscota, y Jude, de jardín de infantes. Ha vivido en Inwood desde 2006 con su esposa María, sus dos hijos, el bebé Harlan y su perro Ned. Pam fue madre compañera de clase en 3er grado y nuevamente es madre compañera de clase en 4to grado. Ahora forma parte de la Junta Ejecutiva por primera vez como Tesorera. Su formación es científica y su carrera anterior fue en el Departamento de Protección Ambiental de la Ciudad de Nueva York como ecologista del agua. Cuando no está ocupada con sus hijos, la mayoría de los días se la puede encontrar en Isham Park o preparando un banquete en su pequeña pero poderosa cocina.
Assistant Treasurer | Marlene Naanes
Assistant Treasurer: Marlene is mom to Muscota 5th grader Maeve and Chris, a middle schooler. Originally from Chicago, she moved to New York permanently in 2007 after originally coming for grad school a couple years prior. At Muscota, she’s been a kindergarten and first grade class parent and now serves as assistant treasurer for the PA board. Her background is in journalism and public relations, and her hobbies include cooking and finding fun things to do with Maeve, Chris and her husband Steve.

Recording Secretary | Carl Sable
Recording Secretary: Carl Sable lives in Washington Heights with his wife, JaEun Claire, and their kids, Ian and Louie. Ian is a 5th grader at Muscota. This is Carl’s second year serving as recording secretary for the Muscota PA, and before that, he served two years as webmaster. Raised in NJ, he has lived in NYC since 1997, and he has been a faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Cooper Union since 2003. Carl loves Muscota and looks forward to a final year participating in its great traditions!

corresponding Secretary | Hollis Scarborough
Corresponding Secretary: Hollis grew up in Texas and moved to NYC in 2003 to pursue a career in acting. She is wife to Percy and mom to second grader Huck, 3-year-old Etta, and a ridiculous goldendoodle named Cricket. After becoming a mom, Hollis gave up acting and in 2019, co-founded www.hullabaloobookco.com where she serves as the Chief Creative Officer. Her role includes but is not limited to creative direction, event planning, graphic design, children's programming and activity creation, and A LOT of emails. This experience was instrumental when deciding to take on the role of Corresponding Secretary last year. In her limited free time, she loves going out to dinner, watching too much TV, and giant, unsweetened iced teas. Her biggest hope is that you feel welcome within this community and truly seen during the craziest parts of parenting through the school year.

translation secretarY | Juan Carlos Jerez
Translation Secretary: Juan Carlos Jerez is the father of two children from Muscota, Gabriella, in fourth grade, and Carlos Andres, in kindergarten. Originally from the Dominican Republic, he moved to New York in 2021 and has lived in Inwood since then. He served as Treasurer of the Parents Association board from 2021 to 2023 and currently as Translation Secretary. He has experience in the public financial sector currently focused on non-profit organizations, and his hobbies include finding the secrets behind numbers, walking in the park and always trying new dishes from the wonderful diverse cultures that New York City offers us.

Originario de República Dominicana, se mudó a Nueva York en el año 2021 y ha vivido en Inwood desde entonces. Webmaster | Phil Matarese
Webmaster: Phil Matarese is father to Muscota students Henry (4th grade) and Paul (K). He has served as class parent once, and this is his second year as webmaster. Phil has lived around Inwood since 2005 and couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. When not parenting, he is a software engineer for Google and hosts trivia nights with the Uptown Pub Quiz.
